- Every day in the United States, blood is needed in hospitals and emergency
treatment facilities to care for patients with cancer and other diseases, for organ transplant
recipients and to help save the lives of accident and trauma victims
- Every two seconds someone
in the U.S. needs blood.
- More than 38,000 blood donations are needed each day.
- Just one blood donation can help
save up to three lives.
- Sixty percent of the US population is eligible to give, but only 5
percent of those eligible actually do.
We need YOU!
We need your BLOOD! Donating Blood is EASY! It only takes
about an hour and when you are finished, you will know that you have helped to save a patient's
life. It's that simple and that important.
All eligible donors, along with the regular movie ticket, and for employees, Blood Time,
will receive a one-of-a-kind UCLA Blood & Platelet Center lanyard for the gift of life,
while supplies last.
The UCLA Blood & Platelet Center Blood Mobile is coming to campus! Keep your eyes
open for the Blood Mobile this month and you'll have a chance to donate while on the go!

Hours of Collection
Whole Blood
- Monday 10am to 5:30pm
- Tuesday thru Friday:
8am to 3:30pm
- Every 2nd Saturday of the month: 8am to 1:30pm
- We encourage appointments and those with
them are given priority.
- Leave approximately one hour when you come in to donate whole blood.
- Call 310-825-0888 ext. 2 for whole blood appointments
You may also "walk
in" without an appointment and we will be glad to see you. Leave approximately one hour
when you come in to donate whole blood. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions.
Platelets
- Monday thru Friday: 7:00am to 4:00pm
- Every Saturday 7:00am to 11:30am
- For platelets, appointments are necessary.
- Leave approximately 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours when you come
in to donate platelets.
- Please call 310-206-6187 for platelet donations.
